On October 22nd, 2014, the copypasta was submitted to the subreddit /r/copypasta by a now-deleted user. Outside 4chan, the copypasta is found on other sites or platforms such as Tumblr, Steam, Kongregate, Gamefaqs, Crunchyroll and Yahoo. Using archive.moe, typing the keyword "Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan" would yield more than 2.700 posts regarding the copypasta, which can mostly be found on /v/ and /a/. On January 10th, 2014, the copypasta then began spreading to 4chan's /a/ board.

On December 31st, 2013, the copypasta was then submitted by an anonymous 4chan user to /v/ as its own thread (shown below).
